Communities Served

United Way of West Tennessee ran its first campaign in 1941.  Known then as Community Chest it raised over $25,000 for the Jackson Community.  In the 70 Years since that first campaign United Way of West Tennessee has expanded and now serves 14 Counties in West Tennessee and annually raises over $2 Million.  These 14 Counties are divided into 8 Regions that each have local Advisory Boards.

We are dependent on over 300 companies, organizations and government entities that run annual campaigns with their employees to raise funds.  With these companies and other individuals that give directly we have over 8,000 people that annually give to the campaign.  It is because of this generosity that we are able to reach out and lift up communities through local programs that are getting amazing results and making a positive impact on the needs of our neigbors, co-workers and family members.

The United Way of West Tennessee is governed by a Board of Directors that is comprised of at least 2 representatives of each of the 8 Regions of Counties we serve.  In addition to this each of the 8 Regions have local Advisory Boards that are responsible for both raising the funds in that community and reinvesting what was raised back into the community.  For more information on local leadership please visit your Region's page on this website.
