One-time Contributions
Individual GiftsIndividuals may give to United Way at any time. Gifts should be mailed to United Way of West Tennessee, P. O. Box 2086, Jackson, Tennessee 38302. Company/Employee SupportEach fall, local companies and their employees support United Way of West Tennessee by making corporate donations, running employee campaigns or both. In most cases, employee campaigns give employees the option of having a small amount taken out of each paycheck. For many, this is a painless way to give. Learn MoreLeadership GivingEvery community has its Pillars - the individuals who generously donate their time, talent and financial resources to human service organizations, civic groups, education and the arts. These individuals provide a foundation of strength upon which our community is able to grow, thrive and respond to the needs of our residents. The purpose of the United Way Pillars Club is to recognize and honor those individuals and spouses in West Tennessee who have displayed extraordinary leadership and kindness in meeting local human service needs through a generous financial gift of $1,000 or more to United Way of West Tennessee. Donations by other community members, coupled with the support from special contributors, enable our United Way and its funded agencies to continue providing services and programs that meet the most critical needs of our friends, families and neighbors in West Tennessee. We invite you, your friends and your associates to join us in The Pillars Club. Any individual or family (husband and wife combined gift) is invited to join this club. For more information, contact the area manager for your county or Barry Matthews. |
Continuous Contributions
Planned GivingHave you considered giving to United Way forever ? That's exactly what some loyal United Way supporters are doing. Through designations in wills and life insurance, establishment of trusts and gifts of investment properties, individuals and their families can be associated with giving to United Way for years to come. One estate gift allowed us to create a $1 million endowment fund, the Kate Campbell Robertson Endowment Fund, that helps underprivileged children and youth in Jackson and Madison County. This endowment has been used to establish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Madison County, enhance tutor programs and accelerated reading programs in local schools and provides scholarships for local youth to attend local colleges and universities. Recently, United Way received another endowment, the Katherine French Endowment Fund. The income from this endowment will offset administrative costs. Our long-term desire is to fully endow those costs so that 100% of our annual campaign pledges may go directly to helping people in need. What a tremendous legacy to leave our children and grandchildren! Contact us for more information. Giving through StockMost gifts to United Way are in the form of payroll contributions or one-time gifts. But, did you know we received other kind of gifts? People may donate stocks and other investment assets. These gifts are attractive to donors because they may be tax deductible at full value (depending on length of ownership) and avoid capital gains taxes that otherwise would be due on their sale. Cash from the sale of investments that decreased in value may be donated to provide givers with two tax advantages - a deductible charitable gift along with the realized loss. Best of all, through United Way, these gifts are "reinvested" in the community through programs and services that help people in need. United Way of West Tennessee is not a provider of tax or legal services, so please check with your personal financial advisor or attorney when considering these types of gifts. |
